Judith Guest was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Education. Her first novel, Ordinary People won the Janet Heidegger Kafka Prize for best first novel in 1976 and was made into a movie that won the Academy Award for best picture in 1980. Her other straight novels are Second Heaven and Errands.  She has published two mystery novels: Killing Time in St. Cloud, co-written with Rebecca Hill, and The Tarnished Eye.
