Karen Rognsvoog has a BA from University of Minnesota in studio arts and child development. She studied Japanese ink painting (Sumi-e) from Malcom Myers and, for the past 10 years, Reiko Ito Shellum. She has dyed natural fibers and grown plants for dye since the mid-1970s. She teaches at various locations including North House Folk School, The Clearing Folk School, and Minnetonka Center for the Arts. She is a professional pianist, amateur cellist, ham radio operator and teaches private piano lessons.
