The Spring Theme Exhibit is an annual collaborative event hosted by the Art Colony & the Spirit of the Wilderness Church that encourages artists to create new work in response to the varied theme.

Over 60 artists reflect on the effect of intense seasonality, nature's rhythmic insistence on emergence & the extreme dichotomy of darkness & light.

Artist-in-Residence with Hazel Belvo 
April 9-22  
Join us on a spring adventure with Hazel Belvo as she undertakes a major body of large-scale work at the Art Colony. She will open the studio and her heart, intellect, and creative process to the community through public lectures and daily open houses.

 

Call for Artists

Grand Marais Arts Festival call for artist to submit work to the Grand Marais Arts Festival jury application process. Deadline: March 16  

Edina Public Art Committee 
a committee of the Edina Art Center Board, invites sculptors from Minnesota and throughout the U.S. to submit proposals for the 2012-2013 Edina Promenade.  Deadline: March 15

Chinook Book cover contest 
Each winner will receive $500 and their art will be featured on the cover of the 2013 Chinook Book in both print and mobile, released in September 2012. Chinook Book is sold at local retailers and by hundreds of local school and nonprofit groups as a community-oriented fundraiser. Deadline: March 16

in Minneapolis is accepting submissions for future exhibit on the walls of the cafe.Deadline: April 1

 

Flow Art Space in Minneapolis announces a call for "Retro," a group show to be held from June 6 - 23, 2012. Actual or imaginary imagery or repurposed items from an earlier time are eligible for entry. All media will be considered. Work may be For Sale or Not For Sale. Deadline: April 17.

 

Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (ARAC) is currently accepting applications from individuals wishing to serve on its Board.  Deadline: April 27  Download a board application form at www.aracouncil.org

News:  The Art Colony awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Grant!
Course Catalog 2012    











The Art Colony recently received a Festival Support Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board again for the 2012 Grand Marais Arts Festival. One of only 16 organizations to receive the grant and the only one in Northern Minnesota. This grant is a major contributing factor to the success of this festival.
