Dye Paper, Bind Books
August 12 - 15, 2014; 4 days; 9am - 4pm
Location: Founders Hall
Create books with your own naturally dyed papers in this in-depth exploration of paper making and book binding. Using high quality, handmade paper from Belgium Flax, students will apply surface treatments like gelatin resist, walnut husk, indigo dye, pigments, and various Asian techniques. Finished papers will have a variety of rich colors and a leather-like strength. Papers can be used to create a flag book, tunnel book, and a multi-signature hard cover. Novices to professionals will be challenged.
This class will be cancelled on Tuesday,August 5, 2014,
