Wax Work with Free-form Gemstones
Saturday, June 13, 2015; 1pm - 4pm
Location: Glass Studio
Students will observe demonstrations of a range of processes involved in incorporating free-form gemstones into wax models for lost wax casting. Techniques include heat sinking a free-form gemstone, carving various types of integral settings in wax, nesting mating parts for a contoured fit, and using files and gravers to sculpt the finished wax model form. Students will then have the opportunity to use the techniques demonstrated to create their own wax model using a cabochon cut Lake Superior agate.
This class will be cancelled on Monday, June 8, 2015
, if minimum enrollment is not met. Please register before this date.
