Robert Henri once said, “Good composition is like a suspension bridge; each line adds strength and takes away none.” This week is for artists who work in a variety of media who would like to better understand the timeless challenge of moving your viewer through your picture plane. Whether your work is abstract, non-representational, or realist in inspiration, this will be an opportunity to study the anatomy of one of the most personal choices an artist can make. We will look at and dissect the way artists use different elements in their work and how they are combined and arranged in relation to one another. Students will receive one-to-one attention from Kristen as well as group critique along with quality studio work time.
Prerequisite: Two years of art training or an intermediate understanding of your medium and cohesive body of work.
