Patterning Mokume-gane

This class will focus on the possibilities within the pattern-development stage of the mokume-gane making process. Students will learn some practices common in blacksmithing by hot working the billet in the initial patterning stages with a gas forge    (or gas-fired chamber), hammer, tongs, and anvil. As the patterning process progresses students will also learn techniques common to the silversmith and goldsmith by cold working to round out finish the patterning process.  Prerequisite: foundational jewelry experience and familiarity with torches.
