Ann Solyst works in hard pastel on paper, drawing both real and imagined animals in a naturalistic style. Her work is rich in form and texture and grounded in technique without becoming stiff. Rather than focusing on realism, her focus is on believability and she refines her drawings so they reach the desired balance of believability and whimsy. Ann has received several awards, including the Powderhorn Art Fair Invitational Award and the Art in Bayfront Park Festival Favorite award in Drawing. She has a BA in Studio Art from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota.
