Tara Sweeney

Tara Sweeney, Saint Paul teaching artist, illustrator and author, has been creating award-winning watercolors for nearly forty years. Most recently, she co-authored and illustrated the MN Book Award Finalist picture book, A to Zåäö: Playing with History at the American Swedish (University of MN Press, 2019) She was awarded a MN State Arts Board grant for the project and TPT2’s MN Original showcased the work in progress. Her watercolor “First Sip,” was selected to represent MN in NWS 2020 Fifty Stars exhibition, and as best of show in MN Watercolor Society fall 2020 exhibition. She is professor emeritus with Augsburg University where she taught drawing and painting for 25 years, including seven international plein air sketching programs. She earned undergraduate degrees in design and studio art from the University of WI, and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
