Tara Sweeney is an award-winning artist and author who teaches regional and international workshops. TPT2 MN Original documented her creating A to Zåäö: Playing with History (UMN Press, December 2019), a collaborative picture book for all ages exploring the American Swedish Institute. She was a MN State Arts Board grant recipient in 2013 and 2017. Close to Home: Sketching a Minnesota Year, is her debut collection of illustrated creative nonfiction. She is professor emeritus with Augsburg University where she taught drawing, painting, and design for 25 years. Tara earned degrees in art and design from UW-Stout, and an MFA from MCAD. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and the MN Watercolor Society where she serves as workshop co-chair.
